About F3S

Florida Society of the Social Sciences (F3S) is a graduate student organization that facilitates professional development and research within the social sciences and creates space for interdisciplinary dialogue on campus at the University of Florida. The organization is housed by the Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and sponsored by Student Government.
Each year, F3S hosts the Conference of the Social Sciences (CSS). This conference serves as an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of different academic fields to present innovative research, brainstorm ideas, and collaborate with peers from several Florida colleges and universities.

Across more than a decade, CSS has grown to expand across research topics, fields, disciplines, even universities, expanding from a small local conference to one that includes hundreds of student participants each year. With each successive conference, CSS becomes more diverse, reflecting broader ranges of research and a more expansive array of budding scholars from across the state of Florida (and beyond!).

Throughout the year, leading up to CSS, F3S seeks to foster a cooperative environment, actively working to unite our campus community through skills development and dialogue, and to deeper our connections to the broader Gainesville community. Keep an eye out for our events.

We are always seeking out next year’s leaders, and we want them to be diverse. Email us at f3s.exec@gmail.com for more information.
